About Al Evavold, Owner of CAP Custom Homes

CAP Custom Homes, formerly known as Paul Schermer Construction, specializes in new home construction and renovations. Paul Schermer Construction was founded in 2002, Paul had 18 years’ experience in the construction industry and had always dreamed of making his passion into a family business. This dream of his became a reality when his son, Chris and son-in-law, Alex shared this same passion for construction and working with new people – so began CAP (Chris, Alex, Paul) Custom Homes! CAP, founded in 2016, was open for business! Unfortunately, a few short months later, Paul passed away leaving the future of CAP in question. Alex, passionate to keep the family business going decided to move forward with CAP Custom Homes; striving to continue the business based on his father-in-law’s principals of honesty, integrity and hard work.

Based out of Clearwater, MN, CAP Custom Homes provides services mainly in Wright and Stearns counties, but will travel to other parts of Central Minnesota. Whether you have a project that is large or small, Alex looks forward to working with you! Alex is a licensed General, Plumbing and Mechanical Contractor, with work experience in both residential and commercial projects. He has a great team of sub-contractors that he works closely with and has built strong relationships with over the years.

"Our 1930’s little cabin had some big challenges. Part of the original foundation was crumbling due to old age and large tree roots. We decided that Alex and CAP Custom Homes had the skill and creativity to get the job done. Alex and team successfully completed raising the cabin, excavating the old foundation and building a new, solid foundation. They continued the renovation with landscaping, new roof, exterior paint/ stain and installed/vented a new gas furnace/central air. We are beyond thrilled with the results!
