Hobbies and Interests

Family and faith are the cornerstones of my life, profoundly shaping how I spend my time. I cherish moments with my family, whether on vacation adventures, exploring waterfalls in upper Michigan, or enjoying family pontoon rides.

Reading is something that provides me new perspectives and personal growth, balancing my busy professional life. Helping at church and worshiping God are integral parts of my routine, reinforcing my commitment to faith and service.

I deeply enjoy outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and camping, which connect me with nature and offer opportunities for reflection. One treasure includes Rocky Mountain snowmobile trips with Friends & family as we navigate the snowy trails together.

Early Life and Introduction to Construction

I was born and raised in the small town of Annandale, where the values of hard work and integrity were instilled in me from a young age. My fascination with construction & Farming began early, fueled by countless hours spent watching and helping my father, Grandfather & neighbors fix & working on projects. The sense of accomplishment I felt from creating something tangible and enduring became a cornerstone of my identity.

Meeting Paul Schermer

My journey into the construction industry took a significant turn when I met Paul Schermer, my future father-in-law. Paul was a seasoned veteran in the construction business, with 18 years of experience under his belt at the time. His passion for building and renovation was infectious, and it wasn't long before I found myself sharing his dream of turning this passion into a family business.

The Birth of CAP Custom Homes

In 2009, Paul founded Paul Schermer Construction, a company dedicated to new home construction and renovations. His vision was not just to build houses, but to create homes where families could grow and thrive. Paul always hoped that one day, his company would become a family business, a legacy that could be passed down through generations.

That dream came closer to reality in 2016 when Paul, his son Chris, and I decided to join forces. With our shared passion for construction and our commitment to excellence, we founded CAP Custom Homes – named for Chris, Alex, and Paul. It was an exciting time, filled with the promise of new beginnings and the continuation of Paul's legacy.

A Tragic Turn

Just a few short months after we opened CAP Custom Homes, tragedy struck. Paul passed away unexpectedly, leaving us in shock and the future of our fledgling company in question. The loss was profound, both personally and professionally. Paul was not just a mentor and a leader; he was the heart and soul of our enterprise.

Moving Forward

Despite the immense grief and uncertainty, I knew we had to move forward. Paul had built his company on principles of honesty, integrity, and hard work, and it was up to us to uphold those values. I was determined to continue the business in his honor, to keep his dream alive and to ensure that CAP Custom Homes would thrive.

Taking on the mantle of leadership was challenging, but it was also a deeply fulfilling journey. With the support of my family and our dedicated team, we navigated the rough waters of loss and uncertainty. We focused on delivering high-quality work and building strong relationships with our clients, always striving to exceed their expectations. Throughout this journey, keeping God at the center of everything provided us with the strength and guidance we needed.

Career Development and Education

Parallel to my journey with CAP Custom Homes, I pursued a specialized path in plumbing and mechanical systems. From 2008 to 2011, while still in high school, I earned college credits towards a Plumbing degree. After graduation, I worked diligently as a Plumbing and Mechanical installer, gaining valuable experience and credentials. In 2018, I achieved a significant milestone by earning my Master’s Plumbing and Mechanical license with the state of Minnesota. This credential was a testament to my dedication and expertise in the field. During this time, I balanced my work as a Plumbing and Mechanical installer with building homes, further broadening my skills and experience.

Founding Solutions Plumbing & Mechanical LLC

In the spring of 2020, I took the next big step in my career by starting my own company, Solutions Plumbing & Mechanical LLC. Today, I manage and run the company, overseeing three crews and five employees. Our focus is on delivering high-quality plumbing and mechanical services, maintaining the standards of excellence and integrity that have guided me throughout my career. We keep God at the center of our work, ensuring that our efforts align with our faith and values.

Family History

My personal life has been just as fulfilling as my professional journey. I married my wonderful wife, Stephanie, on August 1st, 2015. Together, we have three wonderful children who bring immense joy and purpose to our lives. Our son Hudson, who is now 7 years old, is full of energy and curiosity. Our daughter Hayden, aged 5, is a delightful and imaginative spirit. Our youngest daughter, Henley, is almost 1 years old, and her arrival has brought a new wave of happiness into our home. As a family, we strive to keep God at the center of everything we do, finding strength and guidance in our faith.

Building a Legacy

Today, CAP Custom Homes stands as a testament to Paul's vision and the strength of our family bond. We specialize in new home construction and renovations, always aiming to create spaces where people can build their own dreams. Every project we undertake is a reflection of the values Paul instilled in us: honesty, integrity, and hard work.

Looking back, I am proud of what we have accomplished. The journey has not been easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding. We have built more than just homes; we have built a legacy that honors Paul's memory and carries his dream forward into the future.

Conclusion

As I reflect on my life and career, I am grateful for the lessons I have learned and the people who have shaped my journey. From a young boy fascinated by construction to the owner of a thriving family business, my path has been guided by passion, resilience, and a commitment to excellence. Through CAP Custom Homes and Solutions Plumbing & Mechanical, we continue to build not just structures, but lasting memories and strong communities. By keeping God at the center of everything, we find strength and direction, ensuring that our efforts honor our faith and values. And in doing so, we keep Paul's spirit alive, building a future he would be proud of.
